Water Management
How you manage tank bottoms and associated produced waters is primarily a disposal decision. Normally producers pick from a number of options which, to date, mainly involve simply getting rid of the materials in a surface impoundment or land application. From time to time and depending on the value of oil, “reclaimers” skim some good oil to sell to “blenders”. But recovery of our natural resources demonstrates responsibility far above simple disposal.
Previous tank bottom management approaches have added up to a substantial loss in environmental and resource conservation terms. For example, the ratio of tank bottom creation in the West Texas oil field is 400:1 (for every four hundred barrels of gross oil production there is approximately one barrel of tank bottom produced). This can vary substantially as illustrated by an estimate of 166:1 ratio in southern California where heavy oils create more emulsions.
The H2Oil alternative maximizes quality recovery of oil for direct sale to refineries. This is an expensive but environmentally sound approach to resource management. And the fact that our six step process also recovers oil enables us to charge less than conventional disposal methods while yielding a more environmentally responsible result.
